MASTER OF MANAGEMENT (MMGT)

OVERVIEW

The Master of Management (MMgt) is designed to provide in-depth training for individuals seeking to enhance and deepen their competencies in specific areas such as Management, Marketing, Finance, and Islamic Finance. It is also a stepping stone to further study at PhD or DBA level for future career development. Taught entirely in English and this programme is specifically designed to provide students with the academic background and skills required.

Entry Requirement

Working experience in a management or executive position would be an advantage.

A minimum of 2 years of working experience in a management or executive position is required.

  • A good bachelor's degree from IIUM or any other institutions of higher learning approved by the University Senate. A professional qualification which is certified equivalent to a degree under Malaysian laws and approved by the University Senate can also be considered.
  • Proficiency in English language (where necessary candidates may be required to sit for an English language proficiency test).
  • A minimum score of 550 (PBT-TOEFL), 213 (CBT-TOEFL), 79 (IBT-TOEFL), 6.0 (IELTS) or 6.0 (EPT) is required for international applicants.

**Candidates without work experience, who have done well in their studies (CGPA of 3.00 or more, or equivalents) may be considered for admission into the full time programme only.

Coursework

The academic year starts in September each year. There will be three trimesters in an academic year, starting in September, January and May each year. The duration of study for MMgt Degree is typically 4 trimesters for full time students and 7 trimesters for part time students.

Each trimester has 15 weeks inclusive examination weeks and semester breaks. Courses will generally be conducted on weekday evenings (6.30 pm - 10.00 pm) or weekends.

A full time student is required to take at least 3 courses per trimester. A part time student is required to take at least 1 course per trimester. The project paper will in the area of management, and will supervised by a faculty member or experts from the industry.
