The Certificate in Islamic Banking and Finance Law programme is aimed at equipping its participants with a sound knowledge of the principles of Islamic law as it pertains to banking and finance. The programme focuses on analyzing the relationship between Islamic and conventional banking systems, evaluating the current practices of the Islamic banking system, both specifically in Malaysia and in the Muslim world in general.

Who Should Apply?
The course is suitable for those without prior knowledge in finance, economics, law or Islamic studies. Bankers, legal practitioners, Takaful operators, finance companies, accountants and auditors, will management companies and members of the public are encouraged to pursue the programme, in order to gain a competitive edge in the job market. The CIBFL programme will benefit those who have prior education in fields related to law, economics, finance, business and management studies.

A minimum of SPM or any other qualifications from recognized institutions that are approved by the University authorities (all applicants must possess a credit in Bahasa Malaysia).
After successfully completing this course, participants should be able to:
  • Explain the viewpoints of Islamic law as it pertains to banking and finance.
  • Justify the basis for the prohibition of riba and its significance for savings and investment.
  • Identify the various Islamic financial instruments available in the industry.
  • Describe issues in Islamic banking and finance in the industry.
  • Clarify and identify the advantages and disadvantages of Islamic law as it pertains to banking and finance.
