Certificate in Shari'ah for Islamic Banking

This course is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of Islamic Banking and Finance. The course covers a multitude of selected areas in the field as well as in discussions on contemporary Islamic banking and finances issues. The main objective of this course is to equip participants with a basic knowledge of the fundamental courses in Shari'ah. The programme familiarizes participants with the underlying principles of Islamic finance and halal products.

The programme is open to those individuals who have a minimum of SPM (O-Level equivalent) or any other qualification approved by the International Islamic University Malaysia.

After successfully completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basic idea of Shari'ah, Fiqh and Usul Fiqh.
  • Understand various sources of Islamic Law and methodology of ijtihad.
  • Describe the conditions, ethics, rules and principles of Ifta.
  • Explain the Higher Objectives of Shari'ah and their application in Fiqh.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Shari'ah principles in various areas of Fiqh.
