Master of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage in Qur’an and Sunnah is a programme that focuses on specialized in-depth study of various aspects of the Qur’an and Sunnah/Hadith such as interpretation, narration, refutation of deviant approaches and cultivation of ideas and principles for relevantization of revealed teachings in contemporary life. Students will be exposed to various dimensions of the discipline, benefitting from the rich heritage of the past combined with modern discourses in the field.
To develop highly qualified human resource with masterful grasp of scholarly contributions, theories and ideas in Qur’an and Sunnah studies.
To contribute toward solutions for problems facing the nation, the Muslim ummah and mankind at large based on the principles expounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
To nurture leaders committed to positive change and progress with a strong sense of responsibility for da’wah toward the truth and the seeking of divine pleasure.
Ability to articulate aspects of riwayah (narration), dirayah (understanding), and hikmah (wisdom) in connection with the textual study of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Ability to create, design and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern tools for the advancement of Qur’an and Sunnah studies.
Ability to communicate the teachings embodied in the Qur’an and Sunnah with wisdom to various segments of society in order to spread and heighten the observance of Islamic teachings in daily life.

Students will be enrolled in the coursework mode and take courses to complete their studies.

Textual Reading from the Six Hadith Collections
A relevant Bachelor’s degree (honours) from IIUM or any other accredited institution of higher learning;
A Bachelor’s CGPA of 2.75 and above or its equivalent;
An English proficiency score of Band 6 on IIUM’s English Placement Test (EPT).
An Arabic proficiency score of Band 6 on IIUM’s Arabic Placement Test (APT).
Note: The English and Arabic proficiency requirements are waived for IIUM graduates who had obtained the required scores at the undergraduate level.
