Launching of IIUM and Ox Education Partnership in Delivering Online Remote Candidature Postgraduate Programmes
International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) have inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Ox Education on May 10, 2021 for a collaboration to deliver a remote candidature mode for selected IIUM postgraduate programmes. This will open the door for more students to receive IIUM education from anywhere around the globe. Ox Education owns Oxademy Business School, an accredited business school governed under the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, United Kingdom. The parties agreed to collaborate in four academic programmes: Master of Halal Industry Management, Doctor of Philosophy (Islamic Banking and Finance), Doctor of Philosophy (Halal Industry) and Doctor of Philosophy in Arabic Studies. On IIUM side, the management of the programmes will be coordinated by IIUM Academy of Graduate and Professional Studies (IIUM Academy).
The MoA was signed during an online signing ceremony on May 10, 2021 by Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, Rector IIUM and Mr. Syed Shahzad, Director of Ox Education in the presence of Mr. Dusty Amroliwala OBE, Chairman of Ox Education, UK and other honourable guests from both parties.
IIUM Academy has a strong track record of being a one-stop centre servicing non-residential students from outside Malaysia. Over the past 5 years, more than 50 international PhD students who were managed by IIUM Academy have successfully completed their studies and many of these graduates are now occupying senior positions in their countries. Now through the partnership with Ox Education, IIUM Academy is poised to enhance the learning experience of non-residential students further as Ox Education will be providing its sophisticated AI-based learning platform for distance learning to go hand in hand with the capabilities and the experience that IIUM Academy has accumulated over the years in managing off-campus students.
This collaboration between IIUM and Ox Education is aligned with the nation’s initiatives that demand university programmes to be globally recognized as well as innovative and competitive. This partnership also reflects as an exemplary practice for remote candidature scheme globally and university collaboration in the Malaysian Higher Education context.
