IIUM Academy is now offering Remote Supervision programmes in partnership with OxEd. Oxademy Education (OxEd) is an education technology provider and a fully accredited higher education entity in the UK. OxEd is a pioneer in adaptive, skills based personalised learning that fits individual learning styles and preferences.
The Remote Supervision programmes are offered in partnership with OxEd on their award-wining, cutting edge platform called Learning Engagement and Assessment Platform (LEAP). LEAP which is developed by OxEd is an innovative, secure, online learning system. LEAP provides a customised learning path for every learner and uses various methods to engage and train. In addition, LEAP automatically monitors learners progress and assists them through human lead audio/video communication. It is web-based and accessible via the latest Chrome and Firefox browsers.
As part of the remote supervision, learners will have the course director, course administrator and fellow students available via interactive forums, audio/video calls, email and phone so that support is available and learners benefit from all important social learning.

Doctor of Philosophy (Islamic Banking and Finance) is awarded to graduates for a meaningful completion of doctoral research that advances the theory and principles of Islamic Banking and Finance from inter-disciplinary perspectives. Upon completion of a multi-disciplinary doctoral programme, the graduate is expected to undertake independent research and contribute to quality publications in their field of expertise.

Entry Requirements:
The aim of this PhD is to offer graduates of different disciplines an opportunity to acquire knowledge and practice in the broad field of research and innovation in the halal industry. The objectives of the course is to cater for a higher level of demand in terms of comprehensive knowledge in the halal industry and to provide an opportunity for national and international graduates to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Halal Industry).

Entry Requirements:
The Doctor of Philosophy in Arabic Studies is a full time and a part-time course that requires 3 to 5 years (full time) and 5 to 8 years (part time) to complete. Each candidates will be trained in research methods, Islamisation of knowledge and a specialised area in history to prepare them for the challenging task of producing original research in the form of a thesis. The expected length of the thesis is 80,000 – 100,000 words and must be written in Arabic. Areas in which the candidates can specialise include theoretical and applied linguistics, syntax, morphology, semantics, lexicography and translation studies. The PhD comprises of two compulsory modules. These modules are supplemented at the end of the PhD by a Research Proposal and an individual Thesis which enable students to apply the insights of the taught modules.

Minimum one year (two semesters) and maximum three years (six semesters) for international students.
Teaching & Learning Mode
Students will be enrolled on a remote candidature basis, which requires minimal residence in Malaysia. In this mode, students are required to report to IIUM Campus for only three weeks in each academic year. (This requirement is waived as long as the COVID-19 travel restrictions are in place).
The courses of the programmes carry no credit hours since the main requirement for obtaining the degree is the fulfilment of the thesis requirement.
In terms of course delivery, teaching will be delivered online with a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous components.
For thesis preparation, a supervisor will be assigned by INHART to each student and students will meet their supervisors through video conferencing to plan and discuss their research and thesis writing.
